I joined MacDougall Financial Counseling in the summer of 2009 after graduating from Duquesne University with a BA in Political Science. While I am a Financial Advisor, I toe the line between Advisor and Analyst. I am an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) and am Series 65 licensed. Typically I focus on estate planning, mutual fund and ETF analysis, and portfolio construction. However, my top priority is ensuring that I am taking all the necessary steps to move our clients towards their life goals.
When I first joined MFC, I worked on the administrative side of the business. Over time my position evolved to focus on investment research. Each day in the office looks a little different, but staying on top of the market and aware of trends is a constant. I also monitor our core funds, ensuring that they are performing as expected in any particular market environment. In recent years, I’ve become more client-facing as my involvement in the relationship management side of the business has grown. I liaise between managers and representatives from various mutual fund companies in an effort to find investment strategies that fit with our clients' needs. From there I’m able to advise on a broad selection of funds with a deep knowledge of their nuances.
Outside of the office, my wife and I are both active members of our community and frequently organize community events. We also love animals. In addition to our two dogs and two cats, we foster animals through the Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley. In the past year we’ve fostered and found homes for over a dozen cats! When I’m not at work or spending time with my wife and son, I enjoy golfing, volunteering with the Pittsburgh Marathon, and reading up on American History.
