Elizabeth (Liz) MacDougall, CPWA® is the Vice President of MacDougall Financial Counseling and a personal finance education advocate. She has worked in Investor Relations and Private Equity but has spent the majority of her career growing MacDougall Financial Counseling to be a top tier wealth management firm. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Richmond with a degree in Business Administration and a minor in Spanish. Driven by a genuine desire to empower individuals and help them secure their financial future, she brings a fresh and vibrant approach to the world of financial advising.

Liz’s career began at on the Investor Relations team at XO Group Inc, where she prepared for quarterly earnings calls, managed a strategic project, and implemented a new investor communication strategy for the C-suite. She then transitioned to Aldrich Capital Partners as an Investment Team Analyst where she worked on deal sourcing, due diligence, and execution. She focused mainly on investing in financial technology and software companies with revenues between $10M and $30M. 

Today, Liz adeptly manages client relationships, business strategy, and operational efficiency as the Vice President and Compliance Manager of MacDougall Financial Counseling. As a Certified Private Wealth Advisor® professional, she understands the unique needs and complications that arise for business owners, multi-generational families, and inheritors of wealth. She works as a trustee, executor, and trusted advisor providing clients with the support and knowledge they need to achieve their goals. She also manages investment strategies and client portfolios, conducting research on investments and tailoring each portfolio to the goals of the client. 

Outside her professional endeavors, Liz is committed to closing the gap in personal finance education through community events and volunteering her professional advice. She is a member of the board at The Children’s Institute, a non-profit that provides services to children with disabilities and their families in Pittsburgh. Liz also serves as a volunteer for coordinating healthcare access for local individuals in need.  

In her personal life, Liz finds joy and rejuvenation in outdoor exploration. A seasoned white-water kayaker, skilled rock climber, and avid hiker, she embraces life’s adventures with enthusiasm. She is often accompanied on these excursions by her fiancé and their labradoodle. Her adventurous spirit fuels her drive to excel in the finance industry, enabling her to bring a unique perspective and innovative solutions to her clients.
